The International Peace Wall on Falls Road is in the Catholic area of Belfast. The wall has been temporarily repainted to mark the centenary of the 1916 Irish Easter Week Uprising against the British occupation of Ireland.

On the plain white sign, middle of the photo: "We will not have Home Rule in Ireland." The figure in the blue shirt is Edward Carson, an Irish unionist politican who is a very unpopular figure in Republican and Nationalist circles and this part of the mural has been paint-bombed. The artist has said that you can't tell the story of the 1916 uprising without him and so he remains in the mural.

"End British rule. Smash Stormont." Stormont was the location of the Northern Irish parliament between 1920 and 1972.

"About 90 women took part in the Rising, 60 of whom were Cumann na mban, including a contingent from Belfast." "Cumann na mban was the Irishwomen's Council. Newspaper headline: Batchelors Walk Massacre.

"Socialism and Nationalism. If you remove the English army tomorrow and hoist the green flag over Dublin Castle unless you set about the organisation of the Socialist Republic your efforts would be in vain."

A call for clemency for the Native American civil rights activist and leader of the American Indian Movement, Leonard Peltier, who was convicted of murdering two FBI agents in 1975, supposedly without direct evidence. He has been incarcerated for 41 years.

First photo of the Peace Wall, built in 1969, dividing Catholic and Protestant neighborhoods in Belfast. This is the Protestant side of the wall and it is nearly 45 feet (13.7 m) high. There are no longer patrols and checkpoints to keep people of different religions apart. The Catholics mostly support a one Ireland; the Protestants mainly support staying as part of the United Kingdom, two opposing views for the future of Northern Ireland..

The artwork on the wall is a Changing Faces project. Many people put their own messages on the wall over the artwork.
