First stop on a Bogota city tour, the Plaza de Paloquemao, the market where I was yesterday on another tour.

Today was Saturday and there was a big flower market outside the enclosed market.

The roses were very inexpensive and you could bargain down even the initial low prices.

Most meat is in refrigerated cases but these ribs are seen hanging down in the open air.

Colombian dragon fruit is yellow, not the pink color of Asain dragon fruit, but inside it looks the same and tastes the same.

Our next stop was at the Gold Museum. These were our greeters.

The Gold Museum has about 6,000 pieces of pre-Columbian art and gold work on display at one time. Gold work began about 2,500 years ago in Colombia and the pieces show great skill.

We are in the Candelaria colonial district of Bogota, the first neighborhood in the city. We started a walk outside the Gold Museum. First seen was this statue of Francisco de Paula Santander (1792-1840), a Colombian military and political leader.

I didn't take many photos in Plaza Bolivar as I had taken many yesterday. See "Bogota Photography Tour-2" for photos of Plaza Bolivar. But I thought this woman's dress was interesting.

From the front. She looks like she lives in the Andes Mountains. The next photo will show what she was videotaping on her phone.

Whatever this is I caught at too great a distance from it to figure out what it was.

Obleas are a Colombian desert of dulce de leche (heated sweetened milk) between wafers. Variations of it are with jam, cheese, fruits, etc., and are offered in other South American countries. The Mick Jagger reference seems to be from that Jagger ate obleas while he was in Bogota.
